Hey guys, this page seems a bit empty so I thought I would start something up. In class we've discussed Berkovitch's essay and the topics of 'migration', 'discipline', and 'progress', so reiterating / reviewing those ideas here (I believe) would be beneficial to all. Comments or questions?

Berkovitch's assertion that the Puritans used anxiety as a chief means of control were validated by our primary source documents relating to the Puritans and the Crucible itself. Clearly, McCarthy is also manipulating the fears of Americans regarding communism to gain personal advancement and support. McCarthy's assertion that, "Unless we face this fact, we shall pay the price that must be paid by those who wait too long," reminded me of the Edwards Speech because it established fear in the people but acknowledged that it was not too late to change their fate.
