Ok, major change on my topic. Here's how my train of thought went:
PTSD in soldiers
Depression
Depression in teenage girls
The environment teenage girls grow up in is responsible for an increase in depression in high-school aged girls.
Implicit and explicit sexism plays a large role in lowering the self-esteem of teenage girls and thus leaves them increasingly prone to becoming depressed.
Working thesis will be up shortly.
Tentative Thesis: While genetics partially play a role in the onset of depression in teenage girls, implicit and explicit sexism in American society leave high-school aged girls with low self-esteem and are the most influential causes of depression at this age.
