What role does what children and teens watch on television play with their actions? Whether it be psychological feelings, fashion sense, personality, or even mental disorder, television has some sort of influence, small or large, on children. Is this influence a positive aspect of our society or negative?
I am going to focus in directly on the effect of violence on television on behavior, possibly particularly in younger people. There are many statistics that show that forms of violence in the media that can cause negative effects on human behavior.
Sources that can be used are more adult based shows that younger people view, and violence within the programs of younger people's interest level. Despite the fact that some programs are rated above the age of younger people, they still may have access to these programs and it can still tamper with their behavior.
Likely to focus between the ages of 8 to 18 (older children/teenagers), allowing to demonstrate a variety of shows from more adult-like shows, to even cartoons targeted at younger children.
Focusing in on the negative effects of violence on television because of the proof shown by studies that it causes aggression and violent behavior as a result of viewing. This includes the studies on imitative behaviors as well as agression resulting from what is viewed in both younger aged cartoons up to more adult accepted shows ("rated M"), that teens often watch and have access to. (Part of the problem is that it is impossible to shield children and teenagers from viewing this material as technology improves and grows- undecided as to whether or not this will be a potential point within the paper.)
